Directed by Zimmerman, in collaboration with videographer and editor Bradford Cooper, this 60-minute documentary film provides the cultural backstory of a unique theatre aesthetic that culminated in Murray Mednick’s The Coyote Cycle. Narrated by Ed Harris, the film underscores the playwright’s roots in New York’s Off-Off Broadway movement. Along with his close friends, Sam Shepard, and Maria Irene Fornes, Mednick brought that demanding aesthetic West to Los Angeles, where it became something entirely new. His work with the actors Darrell Larson, Norbert Weisser, Christine Avila, and Priscilla Cohen, explored this intriguing terrain culminating in several celebrated all-night, dusk-to-dawn performances in Los Angeles and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
